Come See the New X7 VT-Drive

Come and see the New X7 VT-Drive Tractors at the National Farm Machinery Show 2016

McCormick North America will unveil the all-new X7 VT-Drive tractor family during the 2016 National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, Kentucky.  To commemorate the launch of this new product line, McCormick will showcase a special, Limited Edition configuration boasting enhancements and upgrades never before seen on a McCormick tractor.

The X7 VT-Drive Series consists of two models generating 160 to 194 maximum engine horsepower.  Designed as a high performance, premium supplement to the already-successful X7 ProDrive Series, these two new tractors are built with comfort, efficiency, and versatility in mind to deliver maximum productivity in nearly any application.  McCormick announced the X7 VT-Drive lineup to its dealer network during its 2016 Annual Dealer Meeting in January, 2016, but this will be the first time the tractors will be shown to the general public in North America.

The new X7 VT-Drive tractors use BETAPOWER diesel engines that generates huge power and torque while keeping fuel consumption and emissions low.  The model X7.450 features a 4.5 liter 4-cylinder engine, while the X7.670 boasts a 6.7 liter 6-cylinder engine.  Advanced SCR technology helps these engine meet the EPA’s strict Tier 4i emissions regulations.

Transferring all of that power to the ground is the VT-Drive continuously variable transmission (CVT).  The CVT combines the efficiency and reliability of a mechanical gearbox, with the infinite speed range of a hydrostatic drive system.  The result is a tractor that can achieve any ground speed, from creeper to maximum transport speed (up to 32 mph (50 kph)), to match the needs of nearly any job around the farm.  The true benefits of a CVT are found in its versatility. The engine and transmission work together to find the right engine RPM and travel speed for the job at hand:  high RPM with low ground speed for draft and specialty applications, or high ground speed with low engine RPM for efficient transport applications.

Both models feature a rugged 4wd front axle as standard equipment.  The solid, cast steel axle with outboard planetary final drives engages electronically via simple push button.  A fully locking front differential engages simultaneously with the rear differential to provide true 4-wheel pulling for traction and performance in the field.  Available front axle suspension improved both ride comfort and in-field performance.

To meet the heavy demands of professional farmers, both tractors offer a closed center hydraulic system that puts out a massive 32.5 gpm of flow, on demand, for the heaviest jobs.  Each tractor can accommodate up to 5 rear remote valves, each with fingertip controls for simple, precise operation.  An electronically controlled Category 3 rear 3-point hitch has a lifting capacity of up to 20,500 lbs.

Operator comfort is paramount in any agricultural tractor.  The large cab on the X7 VT-Drive Series will make long working days feel shorter and less tiring.  The large 4-post structure with completely flat foot deck and two doors offers lots of space in which to move around.  Adjustable steering column, automatic climate control and deluxe air ride seat invite the operator to climb inside and get comfortable.  The cab sits up high with lots of glass area, including a window in the front roofline, to provide exceptional visibility in all directions.

The new X7 VT-Drive Series is fully designed with the farmer in mind.  Engineered with capabilities and features demanded by the agricultural market, these new tractors have what it takes to get the job done, day in and day out.
