Farmers across the globe increasingly recognise that protecting the soil is their number one responsibility and that the knowledge of soil type, structure, management and condition can be the difference between good plant growth and a thriving ecosystem or a wasteland. The United Nations’ World Soil Day (WSD) is held annually on 5 December to emphasise the importance of sustainable soil resource management. The 2020 campaign “Keep soil alive, Protect soil biodiversity” aims to raise awareness of the importance of maintaining healthy soil ecosystems.
