Day 42 – Balfour -Vereeniging

It’s mid May and South Africa is heading towards winter – we know. At the Kruger it didn’t feel like that, but here in Balfour we are suddenly forced to face the grim reality.  We are back onto the central highlands, where altitude weighs in – and it’s over 1,500 m above sea level. The weather is overcast, foggy and cold. By midday, it starts raining as well. It looks like a different country altogether! They say the first snow has arrived in the Drakensberg. Meanwhile in Italy summer is on its way. Might it be time for us to go home?
