McCormick’s “New X Generation” at SIMA 2013

Backed by experience and with a corporate policy targeted on development, McCormick continues to renew its range and now launches a new generation of tractors. Machines that meet the market’s highest-level expectations as to comfort, performance, “intelligence on board” and design.

After the X50 series rollout, Sima 2013 is the venue where lots of other innovations will be introduced; first and foremost McCormick's “New X generation”, result of the brand’s renewed desire to innovate.
Thus, the focus at the French show will be on the new X7 Series, a range possessing high added value in the market segment for tractors with up to 215 HP power ratings.
The new range comprises six models: three with 4-cylinder structural engines and three with 6-cylinder engines plus frame.
βeta Power – Fuel Efficiency Tier 4 interim, Common Rail engines with 143 to 212 HP power ratings, Power Plus and 40 km/h at economic engine speed have been chosen in both versions, 4 and 6 cylinders.
The other features of the range include the PS-Drive transmission with 4 Powershift speed gears and 6 ranges, Autoshift of the 4 speed gears in all 6 ranges and sequential range shifting, the Load Sensing closed-circuit hydraulic system with 123 l/min flow rate, common to all models, and the electronically controlled rear power lift with up to 9,300 kg lifting capacity for the 4-cylinder and for the 6-cylinder models.
The 4-speed electro-hydraulically controlled rear PTO is standard equipment on all models, while the electronically controlled front PTO and power lift with 3,500 kg lifting capacity are available on request.
But more than anything else, it’s the new “Premiere Cab” that raises the quality standards of the new X7 Series to the greatest extent, as it’s a true masterpiece of design and comfort.
Collaboration between Argo Tractors and an important Design Studio led to the creation of this new cab, whose standard of comfort is close to that provided by the car industry. With 4 pillars and a generously sized interior, the cab features excellent visibility. The new-style doors have reinforced hinges and a closing mechanism coming from automotive experience, a concept repeated inside the cab, where materials reminiscent of automobile interiors make everything cosy and led light fittings improve the lighting efficiency, modulate its duration and add to the modern feeling.
The controls are arranged in a rational layout, while other characteristics include the tilt and telescopic steering wheel, the new integrated instrument panel, the new multifunction armrest with, among other functions, a programmable switch. All this plus windscreen wiper and light controls on the steering wheel, automatic turn-indicator self-cancelling function, electric and heated rear-view mirrors as an optional and the new patented system for the retracting 2nd passenger seat (”Hide Away”), which makes it easier to get in and out of the tractor.
Various different optionals, also characteristic of the car industry, can be obtained: driver’s seat with a ventilated and heated backrest and air conditioned glove compartment, while the standard equipment also includes radio with USB plug, Bluetooth microphone and 4 loud speakers.

The McCormick X50, successor of the T-Max series, will also be on show in Paris with its 4 models, .20 – .30 -.40 and .50, with 85 to 113 HP power ratings. There are two versions, “RPS”, with a transmission with hydraulic reverse shuttle and electro-hydraulic PTO, and “SYNCHRO”, featuring a transmission with mechanical reverse shuttle and electro-hydraulic PTO. As well sporting new engines, the range has been restyled by introducing a new bonnet design that paves the way for the innovative family feeling to be featured by all the next McCormick tractor ranges.
Meanwhile, the cab interior has been given a new face-lift, all to the benefit of ergonomics and all-around comfort.
By interacting with the transmission controller, the electronically controlled Tier 4 interim Common Rail engines in the “RPS” .20, .30 and .40 models, boost the power available for PTO operations through use of the Power Plus function.
Lastly, the lifting capacity of the rear power lift has been increased to 4,750 kg thanks to its oversized supplementary rams, now part of the standard equipment.

The three models of the X50m Series represent the future of the C-Max family for the European market, with their Tier 4 interim engines, 85 HP to 102 HP power ratings, mechanical reverse shuttle, overdrive as part of the standard equipment (24 + 12) and optional creeper (32 + 16), 4WD engagement when braking, mechanical PTO and rear power lift controlled by E.L.S. (Ergonomic Lift System).

The X60 family is worth a special mention. As a tribute to the excellent sales results achieved in 2012, it’s now presented in the X-Black version: matt black bodywork, just like a trendy car, with lacquered red trims (such as the logos on the bonnet and steering wheel) and bright red leather seat upholstery to complete the look. The flagship model, X60.50, has an electronic engine with more power up to 121 HP.

In view of the season, the X60 has been painted bright orange, a colour that provides a stunning contrast to the snow when the machine is used for road clearing work. This tractor is presented along with a snow plough attachment to underscore how, in addition to strictly agricultural work, this series of machines can be the ideal solution for those who need to use their tractors with a highly professional setup for clearing snow from the roads.

Argo Tractors, with its headquarters in Fabbrico (Reggio Emilia), manufactures tractors under the Landini, McCormick and Valpadana brands and belongs to the Argo Industrial Group. Argo Tractors SpA has tripled its production volumes in little more than 10 years, with a remarkable growth in concrete results: the group turnover amounts to 500 million Euros. The enterprise numbers 1,600 employees and has 4 manufacturing plants, 8 business branches in various parts of the world, 130 overseas importers and 2,500 dealers. Statistics that have allowed the Landini, McCormick and Valpadana brands to achieve a significant standing in the domestic tractor market and to represent one of the most important international players, thus confirming the value of a successful group strategy.
